Chozo is a very defensive character with a lot of utility and damage when needed.

Ammo

Primary Ammo: Chozo uses 3 types of primary ammo, Grim Runes, Death Runes and Necrotic Runes. These can be picked up and will spawn on top of vanilla (Doom/Heretic/Hexen) ammo.

Special Ammo: Chozo uses Soul Essence as a special resource which is reaped from his enemies when using certain abilities. All special attacks cost Soul Essence along with a tiny amount of primary ammo used by the weapon.

Special Ability: Blood Leech

All damage dealt by Chozo rapidly heals him, this works with any weapon. This ability is key to Chozo's survivabilty making melee viable in most fights.

Weapon: Grim Scythe

Formed from nether magic, the Grim Scythe is a powerful melee weapon that Chozo can summon at will. The Grim Scythe is great for melee combat but can also offer a little bit of range if needed as well as some interesting utility. With sustained damage it is possible to endlessly hack and slash through most enemies regenerating health to full. Uses Grim Runes as a primary ammo.

Primary Attack: Grim Slash

Slashes with the scythe dealing melee damage as well as producing several very breif slash projectiles that can hit other close up enemies. This attack will also grant armor to Chozo and will taunt enemies forcing them to cahnge their target to Chozo. This attack is free.

Secondary Attack: Spectral Scythe

Unleashes spectral clones of the Grim Scythe that fly outwards ripping through enemies before returning to Chozo. On impact, the Spectral Scythes will begin to drain Soul Essence from enemies and will also taunt them. Costs Grim Runes.

Special Attack 1: Corpse Explosion

Creates a small explosion around Chozo as well as around any nearby corpses destroying them and dealing a lot of damage. Also very good against enemies that try to resurrect the dead like Archviles. Costs Grim Runes and Soul Essence.

Special Attack 2: Soul Grasp

Fires a ghostly claw that will home in on an enemy and attempt to grab and pull them straight in front of Chozo, does not affect bosses. This is perfect for getting dangerous far away enemies. Costs Grim Runes and Soul Essence.

Special Attack 3: Dread Wall

Raises a temporary ghost wall of bone and flesh in front of Chozo. This wall is huge and will block most attacks, it is seperated into 5 pieces where each piece can be destroyed early by using the use key on it. Costs Grim Runes and Soul Essence.

Special Attack 4: Grim Ascension

Transforms Chozo into his Reaper Form offering increased speed, power and an additional health pool. Costs Grim Runes to activate and requires a maximum amount of Soul Essence but doesn't consume the Soul Essence in one go. Once in this form Soul Essence is rapidly drained but all attacks drain more Soul Essence so the form can be sustained as long as there are enemies to tear through.

Weapon: Necronomicon

Chozo's personal book of Necromancy, inside resides a plethora of interesting ranged spells all of which drain Soul Essence. Uses Necrotic Runes as primary ammo.

Primary Attack: Quick Shot

Performs a faster but weaker attack based on which spell is selected. Costs Necrotic Runes.

Secondary Attack: Heavy Shot

Performs a heavier but slower attack based on which spell is selected. Costs Necrotic Runes and Soul Essence.

Special Attack 1: Bones

Quick Shot - Bone Splint: Unleashes a flurry of sharp bones that ricochet off walls, these produce a lot of Soul Essence.

Heavy Shot - Bone Pit: Raises large bone spikes outwards from the ground in a ring around the caster.

Special Attack 2: Souls

Quick Shot - Soulfire: Fires a small skull ablaze with soulfire which explodes for fire damage.

Heavy Shot - Wraith: Spawns several Nether Wraiths that will seek out and home in on targets for a bigger fire explosion.

Special Attack 3: Frost

Quick Shot - Chains of Ice: Rapid fires chains of ice that deal frost damage and apply the Chilled debuff. This is excellent when combined with the Souls page as well as allies using fire damage.

Heavy Shot - Fury of The Frost Drake: Summons a frost drake above Chozo that fires out a gout of ice dealing heavy frost damage and chilling enemies.

Special Attack 4: Balance

Quick Shot - Nether Lightning: Channels electrical beams of unholy lightning outwards tearing through enemies dealing electrical damage. Enemies hit will fire sparks in random directions around them. High range but accuracy is reduced from a distance, useful for long corridors.

Heavy Shot - Aether Lightning: Unleahses vertical bolts of holy lighting that travel forwars and tear through enemies. Enemies hit will fire a ring of more aether lightning outwards around them.

Weapon: Lich Scepter

The Lich Scepter is a special weapon that offers good midrange damage and allows for the user to raise several undead minions. Uses Death Runes as a primary ammo.

Primary Attack: Death Nova

Rapidly fires three orbs of death magic that damage enemies, these have limited range and will self detonate after a shor amount of time however. Costs Death Runes.

Secondary Attack: Chill of The Lich

Rapidly fires a wave of ghost ice that chills all targets hit. Costs Death Runes.

Special Attack 1: Raise Wight

Summons a powerful undead melee warrior. Costs Death Runes and Soul Esscence.

Special Attack 2: Raise Grim Reaver

Summons a powerful unead ranged spell caster that can fly and can pass through non-ghosts. Costs Death Runes and Soul Esscence.

Special Attack 3: Ghost Step

Temporarily grants Chozo the ghost effect allowing him to pass through non-ghosts. Costs Death Runes and Soul Esscence.

Special Attack 4: Army of The Dead

Calls fourth a powerful field of nether magic rather summons several Draugr. Costs Death Runes and Soul Esscence.

Minion: Wight

Wights move in towards their target and attack at melee, they have a high amount of health and will taunt enemies that they hit.

Minion: Grim Reaver

Grim Reavers are powerful flying ranged spell casters but are fragile, they are ghosts allowing them to pass through non-ghosts. It is good to have Wights as distractions to help protect them.

Minion: Draugr

Tough undead melee fighters, not as powerful as Wights, but a force to be reckoned with in large numbers.
